Coffee and Tea Club ☕ (or “The Finer Things Club”)

I had a bag of Taiwanese rloose leaf green tea; I poured 1/2 cup leaves into a French press. That tea wouldn’t let me sleep well for two days… and I had a tremendous headache on the third day. I didn’t realize green tea was that strong!

Maybe it’s because I usually have black tea with milk?

Speaking of coffee and tea, what are your favorite cookies to go with it?

Maybe the green tea variant you had, had a high caffeine content. Generally American green tea has very low caffeine compared to black tea.

I never eat cookies with tea. It’s not a very common practice In the US

Seems some special teas are more “dangerous” than beer!
Beer : I know what I drink and how much.

There is an iOS app for coffee lovers (there may be more) came across this now

I remember one of my teachers drinking coffee that way :grinning:

Looks like a cool app. I might try it out tomorrow

Has anyone here tried the hario v60 pour over coffee maker? I am thinking about getting one…

Dont use that “lousy plastic filter” on top take one of porcelain instead!

Most professional baristas recommend a well built plastic one over a porcelain one, because plastic doesn’t conduct heat as much- which gives a more precise temperature; which leads to a more precise brew .

Not good, plastic always dissolves something which will “go” into the coffee.
There is special technique when “brewing” coffee in this way.

But take a look again at plastic.
Would you really prefer to drink your coffee from a “stinking” plastic cup or take porcelain?

Some plastic is cheap, some plastic is not. If you get a high quality plastic then it won’t “dissolve”.

Who tells you what kind of plastic it is?

That’s a good question Franz .

World Barista Champion James Hoffman has a channel on YouTube, and makes videos about coffee. This coffee maker is one of his top recommendations for pour over coffee. He said he recommends the plastic over the ceramic (or porcelain).

Hario makes this same coffee maker in other materials (I think ceramic, but maybe porcelain as well?).

I will consider your input before I purchase. Who knows- maybe I will go with ceramic :man_shrugging:.

There are so many influencers who are recommending things they got paid for recommendations.
We all know this.
If I were you i would go for a ceramic or porcelain one.

Trying to avoid plastic in hot beverage preparation is always better, these always find ways to our Digestive system unknowingly… so should try to avoid as much possible knowingly … traditional methods are safe most of the time :+1:
