Charging Powercore and devices at same time

I couldn’t find the answer in owners manual. Is it alright to charge the Powercore while USB devices are plugged into the Powercore?

The PowerCore 20000 doesn’t support passthrough charging, so you won’t be able to charge your devices at the same time as charging your PowerCore.

While it shouldn’t harm your connected devices as the PowerCore is charging, the normal preferred option would be to have your output ports free and unconnected…

@Violet_Rene Anker PowerCore Fusion may be of interest to you, seems to do the feature you are looking (almost, if not completely), not a pass through solution but charges the devices as well as charges itself. I had use for it for my Raspberry Pi’s at home.

No Anker power bank supports pass through charging (power bank charges itself and a connected device). Anker has commented they consider the practice bad for battery life. And they aren’t wrong. It generates more heat than normal. And everything charges slower, meaning that extra heat is around for longer. That’s not good for the lithium batteries inside the power bank or your device.

It can be okay to use once in a while (your Airbnb only has one power outlet). But not something you want to do daily.

Ideally if you do not plan to use the battery for a while it should be stored at 50 to 60% in a cool dry place and only drained down below 20% if you have to. These steps will provide you the maximum battery lifespan.

I know Anker has made at least one power bank that did support pass through charging that’s the Astro E1. I wish they would still make at least one power bank that did support pass-through it is useful. I would happily pay more for the future or accept a shortened warranty.
