California power outage

Last week and week ahead are excessively warm… Usually its 80~90 but 100+ for 2 weeks are rare instances. (Of course, this is nothing compared to death valley or other warmer places across the world)

This is different compared to earlier Years, last year we were out in beach, out in woods, road trip… But this year we are stuck at home (obvious reasons)

Power outage just adds to it…

They are certainly high temperatures @Shenoy
So whats the cause of the outages, equipment failure or extra drain on the system?

The UK doesn’t deal very well with weather extremes.
The country grinds to a standstill and everyone complains its to hot/cold, its really quite hilarious

Capacity is insufficient for peak demands. Demand increases due to AC. Supply is reduced by heat increasing wire resistance and causing more wires to fail.

Other states just have more capacity instead, it’s a history of mismanagement in California.

Lawyers “help” also, for a modest fee, to claim for damages.

As for UK, if you do a perfect job you get paid once. If you do a bad job you get paid twice, first time to do it badly, 2nd time to do it better.

Sounds like a bit of network improvement is required.
Easier said than done obviously, but thats someone else’s problem!
The service operators need to be kicked into gear. If you’re offering an on demand service you need to be equipped to deal with the demand?

PGE has been in trouble due to the wildfire in recent years and lawsuits … they need to up the game, but conditions are still better than what happened to east coast (NJ,CT, and more) where the residents had no power due to the storm…

at times, there is only few things anyone could plan for the nature’s forces
