Being a full-time reviewer

Hello everyone,

I would like to know if any of you out there are full-time reviewers ?
On my part, I am reviewing products from a few brands, but cannot live out of it  I just do it for the pleasure to write, and to receive some nice products.

I always try to imagine what it would be like to do that for a living. My model is Casey Neistat ! This guy receives packages everyday from all over the world.
Have you ever seen one of his “mail day” videos?

Can you share that videos here?:grinning:

You’ve got my curiosity, might have to go Googling now

I mainly stick to Unbox Therapy and JerryRig myself (reviews / stress tests etc). Have to admit it would be cool to be a full-time reviewer but I don’t think I could cope with being on a camera :fearful: which is part of the deal with YouTube…

I can share with you his YouTube channel :

But the unboxing sequence are ramdomly squeezed in his videos, which are pretty long, around 20 minutes.
I used to watch his videos daily, but I did not in a while now. I guess I got bored ^^

A 5 minute video would be tops for me. I lose interest after that so can see why you got bored.

I too love the idea of doing it but prob love the free stuff idea more.

I’ve signed up for a few brands but not had much joy anywhere else.

Like to do it on spare time - which is why I created the Digitally Speaking Lab.

I guess that it gets boring to do it as a full-time job  there are only so many things you can test for each category of products).

Any hints on how to become a tester? So far I think Anker has the best model I’ve seen!

Unbox Therapy, Jonathan Morrison and UrAvgConsumer and amongst my favourites on YouTube. Each video is the right length and all three has great personalities which i never get bored of seeing. I’d definitely check them out if you aren’t subscribers

Hello @Antoine_Tupin :raising_hand:
I am not a full time reviewer, but I also do it for the same reason as you, because I like to know new products, test them, and enjoy them day by day!
I really like the technology and the great comfort it provides.

Well said ! Of course receiving free stuff is joyful, but writing and describing them to others is very enriching for me. No BS !

I have been a beta tester/ reviewer for over 10 years now. I enjoy it but seeing and getting all the tech goodies and how things have changed is even better. While free is good, just the knowledge gained is worth so much more to me.

I review what I can get honestly, just the average ratings and long passage about the product(s) based on how good the product actually is. I sometimes enjoy leaving reviews but the first and last time I did an unboxing I realized the YouTube life wasn’t for me due to me being self-conscious about my voice, I’m camera shy, and that I get anxiety ://////////

I’m exactly the same! My voice sounds horrible on video compared to in person and being camera shy doesn’t help me either. I’d love to give it a go but I’ve seen first hand how brutal the keyboard warriors are on there.

I’d be worried it would kill the fun of being a tech geek. I’ve gotten jobs in areas I was interested in and it’s like they slowly stop being fun.

It does seem to become a chore when you look at is ad a job, but as long as you learn from it and can benefit it’s no longer a chore but a need and want. And in those cases you can always make it fun and interesting, take a look at Lew and his unbox therapy he always brings excitement and enthusiasm so it’s never boring because he can benefit from it

Not only that you have the complete mystery of who the elusive Jack is!!

I really like giving reviews though, trust me I’ve had conversations up to an hour on things from Anker products or any other product I’m reviewing, my favorite thing that I would love to do is post photos on Instagram but :man_shrugging:
So I just stick to paragraphs and a photo every now and then
