Automatically re-connect BT Flare

Just bought two Soundcore Flare Bluetooth speakers, but i noticed that the speaker does not automatically reconnect to my mobile phone. Is this by design? If yes: why? and can it be fixed/changed with new firmware. If no: can it be changed with firmware  Or do i do something wrong?

I have paired the phone and the speaker and then I switch off the speaker. Switching on again does not re-establish the BT connection. Same is when i turn off BT on my phone then turn on BT again, speaker and phone do no pair automatically. I have to pair manually every time.

Should automatically reconnect…what phone are you using?

I would check you are running the latest firmware via the Soundcore app and try a fresh pairing with your phone…

firmware 2.52 (latest) and Samsung S8 (but also J5) both the same behavior:
-When connected, I turn off BT on phone: (disconnect). Turn on BT again, i then have to manually choose/select/click the Soundcore Flare; only then connection re-established. I also tried this option with a Xiaomi and this worked. On my laptop this method also does work.

-When connected I turn off Flare; when i turn on Flare again, the BT light starts blinking but no (automatic) connection between phone and Flare. This method also did not work with the Xiaomi, neither did it with the laptop.
Also tried fresh pairing, nothing changed.

Same here. I also have experienced an extra step when reconnecting after turning off/on Bluetooth.

I think it’s by design though so you know you want to project your phone’s sound. That way it lessens the likelihood of accidentally broadcasting a conversation.

Have never connected to a mobile.
The automatic reconnection works with my old Samsung tablet.
LINUX is more tricky, but this doesn’t matter here.
But I can test with my wife’s phone.
May be I will detect some real secrets…hehe.

Perhaps its something revolving around Android phones

@Tank Knowing your fondness for Samsung’s, does your Flare give a similar behaviour?

I have the Flare Mini (& Icon Mini), and use it with my iPhone & Windows 10 Laptop… it remembers the last connected device - this is from my experience…

From last paired memory - it pairs immediately to Windows 10 Laptop or iPhone, within 10 seconds of powering ON.

Same with most Soundcore devices

Will test with S8/S9 today

My Flare reconnects almost immediately when powering on for my Android P30 Pro.

I tried several devices, phones, tablets and laptops. So far only one phone (old model Vodafone) reconnected immediately and automatically. But/and only when switching BT on the phone off and on again. No device re-connects when turning the flare off and on.

Several Samsungs (S3, S4, S4 mini, S5, TabA) and also a MacBook did not reconnect. Only when clicking the Flare/Soundcore device in BT settings.

I doubt that this is by design because not all devices react the same way.

Does one think that this is solvable? Firmware?

@ndalby My flare reconnects to my phone automatically. In fact I havnt used my flare in about a month because I have the new Icon Mini I am testing out, so I just turned it on right now. with no other device connected to it and it still paired to my phone within 10 seconds. So yes it should auto reconnect on its own.

Here is where I am seeing the issue, @doeven you may have to clear your Bluetooth cache in order for the autoconnect to work. please try to follow These instructions and then repair the speaker to your phone and report back. I have a few other things you can try, but that is the basic one first.

Cheers for the follow up @Tank don’t have access to recent android at present but was thinking along similar lines…

When most things dont work as intended, we should always reset them. Even the Flare may need to be reset itself as well

Right now I am testing the wakey alarm clock, icon mini and icon+ pair . That’s only Bluetooth speakers. I have so many reviews coming lol.

yea i been slacking, been saying for weeks I would get my reviews done, but i havent even charged my camera up…ok saying that now, I will plug it in to charge so I can stop using that as an excuse

Tomorrow’s Saturday so I will do 1 review.

I really want to review the wakey next, but I don’t want to take it out to do pictures. I want to photograph it beyond my night stand lol.

Your reviews are way harder then mine since you make videos… I guess that makes me lazier :joy:

We’ve all been (or are there) fella

How do you reset the flare?

I don’t think there is any reset option, but to remove BT pairing from the smartphone / source and pair over BT again.

@Rhapsody give this a try:
Turn on the speakers and press the volume up and volume down button together for 3 to 5 seconds, once you see the blue light start flashing then go to your phones Bluetooth menu and you should see the flare pop up on available devices to connect to. Tap on it and it should pair to your phone

Nope! Didn’t make much sense anyway. As i said: this behaviour is not just with one/my Samsung device but it is with several devices. Actually it does NOT work with more devices than it does work.

It might be a combination of things or also a Samsung thing. But might also be a Soundcore Flare thing. See my experiences:

  • Apple MacBook: doesn’t work
  • xiaomi (android): only when initiated from Phone (turning BT off and on again)
  • HP windows 10 laptop: only when initiated from Phone (turning BT off and on again)
  • Vofafone (android): only when initiated form phone
  • All Samsung’s: neither way (nor by turning off and on speaker or phone.

(My sons Bose SoundLink Mini II works both ways (with my Samsung and other phones))
