Anker Soundcore Life Q20 bass crackles when using bass-up tech

The bass crackles while using bass-up technology or if I have the volume maxed. Does anyone have a fix? It hasn’t done this before

Sounds like you may have blown a driver or have a loose component due to excessive volume and bass @Winning_Silver

It can happen in software not hardware if the you have both a high gain and low gain amplification running, e.g. an app has volume to max, it then filters down, then the phone has volume up, then the speaker gets too little mid/lows and so when bass-up then it’s electronic caused non-physical crackle.

I can make it happen on my laptop if I VLC max then total volume low and then turn speaker up loud.

Not physical, it’s basically a triple-sampling issue.

Equally could be a physical dud and so warranty, but look at all the volume settings and ensure the volume in app and total are low first so the bass-up doesn’t max its bass due to too low mids.

So you mean clipping?
It also sounds like a possible case of distortion, especially as the bass and volume is maxed in @Winning_Silver explanation.

Yes clipping is another common name for over pre-amp.

So I figured it out. I had the volume too high using bass-up, so it clips the mids-highs. Because when I turn it off, it doesn’t recreate the popping noise, even at max volume. Also, when I turn the volume down a notch or so on my iPhone when using bass-up, it stops. Thanks for the replies everyone, I appreciate it.

AHH so I was right. Glad you figured it out.

If anyone helps you find the best match reply and click solution lower right, then when the next user searches they find the most probable solution.

Any good speaker about know it’s capability across frequency and shouldn’t really let this symptom through, the fix to lower gain upstream to head off clipping downstream shouldn’t really be happening. I still make it happen though.
