Anker soundbuds surge disconnect on phone lock

Hi,

Purchased soundbuds surge and am happy with the sound quality. However, headset disconnect if my phone is lock. I have to press middle button again and connect it again. Is there any setting which will automatically keeps headset connected with phone even my phone is lock.

Thanks
Prabhat

From what I understand, and correct me if I’m wrong, the earbuds are disconnecting because there’s nothing playing on them. Pressing the middle button and connecting again sounds like you’re powering it on which puts them in pairing mode and it connects to your phone. Am I correct?

Hi Shivam,

Thanks for reply. Actually my main purpose for using soundbuds is for calling while driving. If my phone screen is on soundbuds keeps connected without any issue but once phone screen is locked after 2-3 mins it disconnected. At this time if i receive call that I noticed soundbuds is disconnected and need to press play button for 3 sec to pair it again. This make annoying and it really frustrate while driving.

I was using Samsung U Flex earlier without such disconnection problem. Is there any setting that will keeps earbuds connected to my phone.

Thanks
Prabhat

Hmm it’s either your phone that doesn’t continue the connection or the earbuds themselves that turn off probably due to inactivity. So try holding volume +/- together for about 3 seconds which will reset the earbuds. If this doesn’t work, unpair the earbuds from phone and forget them in bluetooth setting. Then pair them again and see if that helps

Hi,

I tried all option and finally i contacted sales person and while checking it didn’t disconnect so i told him to use for more time than you will find the problem but he didn’t accept it. So i broke soundbuds infront him and walk away. I will buy Samsung U Flex again.

Lesson : dont buy unknown brand product always go for genuine product.

Thanks
Prabhat

I don’t have Samsung phone myself, but plenty of Anker soundbuds, never a problem like yours, so I checked Samsung support commmunity, on the basis it’s probably Samsung’s fault.

Guess what. Common problem with certain Samsung phones.

The solution is there, did you try that?

Well that’s one lesson, another would be assume it’s 50/50 phone fault and keep looking in both directions til a solution. Chances are when it’s Samsung own buds they don’t disable BT in power saving (just a different default).

Yea I saw that Samsung thing and that’s the reason I said phone might be disconnecting not the earbuds themselves.

I spent half of last Sunday solving a Samsung phone problem. The SMS text was not making notifications when screen off. It used to work. So I did a factory reset, didn’t fix. Began uninstall Samsung’s bloatware (Facebutt, MS Office, etc) , nothing worked, until I uninstalled Samsung’s own messages app, then sound returned. I had to in settings, apps, uninstall, and disable, and then in Play Store disable auto-update for all the bloatware.

Guess what, the phone owner asked me to recommend a new phone as their 3 year old Samsung “was broke”. I’d already replaced the battery last year to make it get to 4-5 years life and wasn’t giving up.

Bloatware, pushing ever larger apps is a cynical-money-making-scam clever to force otherwise perfectly fine older phones to be upgraded. I asked the owner to list what they used phone for and pruned it to just those functions.

So Samsung’s default behaviour, is to cause more Samsung products to be bought. In this thread’s case they made a Samsung BT bud sold. In the phone’s case, I prevented a new Samsung phone from being bought “as it used to work, Samsung’s work, this one is broken”.

Yea I get it. Personally used a Samsung non-smart phone about 7 or 8 years ago and had a Samsung smartphone that my mom used. Didn’t like the smartphone and liked the iPhone my dad had so we just went with iPhone when it was on sale. But Apple’s software I think really slows down the phone sometimes so I’m sticking with iOS 12 on my iPhone 7 and not going up to 13 or 14.

Glad you get it. This 3 year old Samsung phone had only 8GB of storage, well I have been using Android now for 7-8 years and 3 years ago I’d never have pointed anyone to as little as 8GB, because Android gets bigger every year, and I’d do a minimum of 32GB in 2020, 2017 I’d not go less than 16GB. So the Samsung phone shop sold a phone with built-in known future flaw. If they did it before, they’ll do it again.

Having pruned it as much as possible, the Samsung phone was using 75% of the 8GB, I could not get it any smaller without removing owner’s essential functions. I added one of my older small SD cards in a slot I found and make it the default for photos so hopefully the phone lasts 1+ years more.

Samsung will get to feel my Android powers.

He Guys,

Thanks for the responses.

I just want to make clear that i dont have Samsung phone, i am using Nokia 6.1 Plus. I was using Samsung U flex Bluetooth headset and was working fine with my Nokia phone and since one of the earbud got fault so i have given it to Samsung service center for repair and for time being i purchased Anker soundbud surge and i faces such issue and this issue is annoying while driving. Moreover, i have tried it with Samsung S8 Plus and there also it shows same issue as keeps on disconnecting on phone lock.

Anyhow, i have broken the earbuds in-front of sales man so no further troubleshooting. Just waiting for mu U Flex back.

Thanks
Prabhat

Ok…

But did you try settings, battery optimisation, phone, disable anyway?

There are plenty of times it’s a dud bud.

I have had, roughly, from memory, so not accurate, two Anker dud buds, I tried to eliminate the cause, then contacted Anker support, they then sent me out a free replacement next business day. In one of those, the replacement didn’t work, so it was an issue with my device, so then I just returned for a full refund.

So here’s the good you can do - those buds may have an actual design error in the case of Nokia 6.1 Plus. Anker won’t know that, to correct, unless you email them with a support ticket. So by working through Anker support, you also help everyone else get better products in the future.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. As suggested I sent email to Anker support and witing for reply.

Thanks’
