This is exactly why we elected to live in Jersey.
Anker Reserve: Camp Lamp + Power Bank
You don’t know a city til you’ve walked it.
I walked once around Denver and once around San Francisco.
All went well til I walked once around D.C.
I used to say this about running. I used to run long distance road races, and I learned so much about how my town worked on those 20-mile training runs.
Jersey got me thinking about Taylor Ham/Pork Roll on a hard roll with egg, cheese, ketchup, salt and pepper.
Are you serious? More than one person asked if you met the Queen before? That sounds rather ignorant and ‘Alabama’ of them lol. I lived in Tennessee from 5 to 15 and we had to move because of the idiocy of people there. Not a blanket statement, just the type of people we lived around since we were in the country. Either way, I’m sorry people stereotyped you as a British person.
Yes and the classic of you said you were from England and they’d ask which part of London you are from like England = London.
USA is one of the most introverted countries in the world. I can’t watch the local TV there, getting hoarse screaming at the ignorance. The polarization - a deliberate intention to wedge to inflame so then you can hear a message from our sponsors and we’ll be right back - started around 20 years ago. I remember the 20th century well, the path to power is through fear, and fear needs ignorance.
So I think reality is complex, and we’re all almost certainly wrong about almost everything, and our goal is to be more proximate to reality and further from myth. That’s way too complex for “news”.
I’ve never been to Tennessee, but worked with someone from there.
Yeah, I gave up watching broadcast tv/news etc several years ago. We have netflix, hulu, prime and disney for shows. I get accurate weather from an online source, and see worldwide news online from a few places. I personally think USA is the laughing stock of the world for how we act.
Anywho, we have extremely deviated from the main point of this thread. Let’s get back to the Camp Lamp!
I think the dumbing down and picking specific stances, and then select stories aligning with that stance, so to wedge the population, was done first at scale in USA, using effects done many times in history.
But UK news is dumbing-down too, it focuses on a few small issues on a loop. I think because it’s cheaper TV to have fewer journalists and hyperbole a few topics.
I rotate between Russian, French, Germany, UK news. There’s big stories in Africa I’d never know about if I only watched USA or UK news.
Variety!
Taylor ham egg and cheese ksp’s are taking days off my life. But I cannot stop myself.
IF you care to send some my way in Denver, I will gladly take days off my life for it!!!
