As with all Anker products, this product arrived in a great looking package. Taking the charging pad out of the box feels like you are taking out a high end piece of technology, not a cheap plastic charger. The charging pad is quite heavy compared to my other Anker charging pad (Anker 10W Wireless Charger, Qi-Certified Wireless Charging Pad, PowerPort Wireless 10), and takes up a considerable more room on my bed side table (see pictures for comparison. There are a number of reasons I keep this one next to my bed instead of the smaller charger:
- It has one very small led that does not flash obtrusively: it is off if nothing is charging, on (solid) if charging, and slowly blinking if there is an issue; my other Anker charging pad has LEDs around it which are great for conveying he status of the phone charging (or not), but aren’t great for a bedroom at night. I have now moved the previous charger into my office at work where the LEDs are barely noticeable, and it works great.
- Safety: This charger comes with a cooling system built in. I have never had an issue with my other wireless charging system, but have felt it get very warm during a full charge. This system has a fan built in — barely audible unless you are trying to hear it very close up—which helps keeps the charger and the phone cool.
With both chargers, I am easily able to charge my iPhone through a Otterbox Commuter Series case without an issue.
The only negative I have about this charger is that the included cable is a “lower quality” cable. It still is an Anker cable, so it is made of good quality, but it appears to be the standard PowerLine cable. It would have been great if they included their top of the line cable (Anker Powerline+ II) for the top of the line charger.
Overall though, this is a great charger and I highly recommend it!
