It’s hard to improve upon perfection. But somehow Anker keeps doing it. How is the PowerLine III an improvement over the PowerLine II or the original PowerLine? Three things:
(1) The connectors (both lightning side & the USB-A side) have a grippy cover (see photos). Not that the previous connectors were slippery, but this adds a nice feel to the connectors.
(2) The cable is slightly thinner than the original PowerLine cable. I do not have the PowerLine II so I cannot compare with that.
(3) Even though it is thinner, it is stronger. PowerLine is rated at 5,000+ bends without breaking. PowerLine II is rated at 12,000+. PowerLine III is rated at 25,000+. As they say, this cable will probably outlast your iPhone … unless you’re like me (keep reading) …
I’ve purchased dozens of Anker lightning cables. I keep buying them, because my friends keep “borrowing” them and never returning them. So if you’re like me, then your cables won’t outlast your iPhone, at least not in your possession.
BTW, I still have the first Anker lightning cable that I purchased in 2014, and it still works great.
