Anker PowerCore+ 26800 PD not charging past 2 lights

Hi all,

PowerCore+ 26800 PD arrived today for my nintendo switch, and as soon as I got it I started charging it up.

It’s now been charging for 6 hours and the LED on the circular button showing the charge level has been stuck on 2 lights since. When it arrived it started on 3 lights, but has since gone down.

The cable I’m using is an Anker PowerLine+ USB C to USB A which is plugged into an Anker 4 PowerPort 4 Lite.

I have also tried plugging it into many other sockets around the house, as well as another USB C lead I have and another socket (my Apple iPhone one), yet the problem persists - so I believe it might be the PowerCore+ itself (please note that there was about 20 seconds max between switching sockets!).

I understand that without being plugged into a USB PD plug it will charge a bit slower but after 6 hours I would have expected it to go up by at least 1 light. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Adam

I’ve not seen any similar issues but can only recommend leaving it overnight to see how it fares.

At least that way you’ve left it at least 12 hours and you will see if it’s definitely something with the PowerCore or if it was just sluggish on the first full charge.

Given the size of the battery it is recommended to use the charger like the ones supplied with Apple macbook. I know the powerport 4 is great but it doesn’t output the power necessary to fast charge this massive powerpack. As mentioned you may need to leave it plugged in for up to 24 hours to fully charge it.

Hi @Adam_Speck,
Thanks for the detailed explanation of the issue as well as the links to the equipment you are using. It really helps in diagnosing the issue! As @roblawton mentioned, please leave it charge overnight to see if there is an improvement. The 26800mAh capacity will take about 16-20 hours to fully charge using a 2 amp input. Also, since this is the first charge, your battery gauge may still be calibrating so it might appear to be moving slower than normal.
If you run into any problems, do not worry as Anker will help you out under your 18-month warranty. Send an email to support@anker.com with your order number and the serial number on the product. Also, please include this description of the issue. Thank you!

Thanks all so much for the advice, means a lot. I’ll leave it overnight and see how it goes - if not I’ll try the Apple USB plug again too. Will get back if the issue still exists or contact support. Cheers!

Hi all - quick update:

I left it charging overnight and it went up to 5 lights when I woke up. I guess it could just be charging slowly for the first time (as someone else mentioned) but otherwise I assume it’s the plug I’m using. I guess that ideally I would want a USB PD plug instead of the Anker 4 PowerPort 4 Lite2.

Regardless, it seems to be functional so I’ll just look into getting another plug. Thanks again for everyone’s help!

Thanks for the update, @Adam_Speck! Glad it’s working for you. Yes, a USB-C PD port will get you a faster charge, but if you’re not in a hurry, there’s nothing wrong with using your current setup.
