Anker PowerCore 26800 Not working (faint 2nd led on)

My Anker PowerCore 26800 that I purchased June 2019 doesn’t seem to be working anymore. I’ve tried to do some research on what is possibly a error code with the LEDs but no luck.

Powerbank has charged for 5 hours and when I hit the button all 4 LEDs light up but the 2nd LED (50% LED indicator) in the sequence shows up faintly after all 4 LEDs turn on at full brightness.

Anyone know how to fix it or what this LED might be telling me.

Does it work otherwise?

Try resetting via connect the input and output and press the power button.

It’s certainly unusual. I’d expect a led to go fainter as it fails but this is doing the opposite, which makes me think there’s a short within its getting power when it shouldn’t .

As it’s different part of the internal chips which drive this than do the other two functions you may get lucky and this is only as bad as it gets.

What charger are you using to charge it?

There is no charge coming from the powerbank. It’s useless right now.
The reset didn’t work, unfortunately. Even worse, this thing looks hazardous now as I’m seeing the plastic melt/soften (before doing @professor’s suggestion). It has been unplugged for at least 8 hours. I have no clue where to even dispose of this now. @Support_Information?

Oh

That looks to be melting where is the voltages balance implying one of the 8 cells is dead and is resisting the other 7.

There is now an obvious risk to health.

Place them outdoors now away from people and flammable items, ideally in a dry location if you can. Example would be on a concrete covered drive.

There are battery disposal places but these are country specific.

I wish you’d mentioned the melting before, I’d have said this earlier.

@professor The melting was a new symptom. Only noticed it 5 minutes before I posted it. It’s outside now.

The power bank might still be under warranty so I wouldn’t get rid of it just yet Anker might ask for it back (unlikely given safety reason but still plausible) you should definitely see if it’s still covered under warranty and if so they might replace it

18 month typically.

Serial number is sometimes on the unit printed for newer models, older it was on the cable included or the case. Email support@anker.com with serial number if you can find, the original order proof of purchase, photos, explanation of the fault, etc.

It’s a Thursday so you will likely see a reply tomorrow.

If it’s still under warranty typically they just send you a replacement, they are entitled to send a refurbished unit, and ask you to dispose safely the failed unit. If out of warranty, is their choice but common is a discount code off new.
