Anker PowerCore 20100 (older model) and 10W solar charger

Hi all, apologies if this has been covered previously.

I’ve got an Anker PowerCore 20100 which is a few years old, and recently got a Forclaz Trek 100 solar charger, which is 10W, to bring camping. Charges phones and iPads fine, (quite quickly), but when I try to charge the Anker, the lights flash for a few seconds to indicate charging, but then they go out. Does the Anker have some sort of charge cutoff for irregular power sources perhaps?

Thanks in advance.

Tim.

Hi @Tim_Bridle,

Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention.

We are sorry to hear that you are having problems to charge the PowerCore 20100 with the 10W solar charger.

Could you please check whether the PowerCore 20100 can be charged properly with your wall plug? Generally, we do not recommend our customers to charge the battery with the solar charger is that the power supply from the solar panel may not be consistent whereas the Anker 20100 takes a long time to charge even from a wall adapter due to its large capacity.

When the charging is interrupted, you may have to reconnect the battery to let the charging start again which is a problem for solar charger since the power supply may be affected by the environment.

You can contact us via support@anker.com for further help if the PowerCore 20100 cannot be charged well with your wall plug.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused and thanks for your understanding.

Hi, and thanks for the response.

My Anker 20100 charges fine from my wall plug, that’s never been a problem. Takes about 12 hours, but that’s to be expected due to its high capacity.

On the instructions for my solar panel it does recommend charging power banks rather than charging phones and other devices directly, due to possible fluctuations, but every device I’ve charged works fine… Just not the Anker.

Anyway, I’ll perhaps get the newer model and try that one.

Cheers,
Tim.
