Anker Battery Phone Cases?

I personally haven’t used Anker’s phone cases but they don’t look to distinguish themselves too much from what else is out there. I’d love to see Anker leverage their quality and battery tech to make a couple different battery phone cases. I personally would LOVE a super slim option that doesn’t add much thickness at all, just enough juice to help people get through a day of heavy use (maybe 1000mah?) and then maybe a folio style case where the “flap” is just a battery pack and there’s an integrated cable that could plug into the phone when the flap is open or closed. You could work a kickstand and/or wallet feature into that style as well.

Thoughts?

Laudable.

When you say “get through a day of heavy use” can you be more precise? What mobile and define “heavy use”.

We can then get into designing it.

So say your mobile is a 2000mah battery and it lasts half of “day of heavy use” then you need to inject into your phone another 2000mah of power.

Then due to power efficiency issues to inject 2000mah you basically need 3000mah (not the “maybe 1000mah?”). Then take a look at how much is 3000mah in some example technology - like look at Anker’s Powercore+ Mini 3350 or its Powercore Slim 5000mah. Then look how slim that would be?

The more precise you can be on your goals, the more it can be designed.

I hate this obsession with thinness. I want one too but if it’s not providing at least 10,000 mAh extra then I’m not interested. An extra 1000 is a third of a single charge for me.

I have a charger case and I find it more of a pain in the butt than anything, especially lately. In the beginning it would occasionally become incompatible with my phone and over time has gotten worse. I prefer the smaller portable chargers now. Plug it in whenever you want or just leave in desk until battery close to zero.

This brings up the issue of size vs. power or mAh. I don’t have too much space in my pockets so I wouldn’t like a battery case. I am for the idea though. 1000 mAh isn’t that much when you think about it. Wouldn’t it be better to just have a portable charger? I know it there is more work involved when doing that, but for me that works better. I think you would want at least 3000 mAh if it was actually going to make an effect. It’s a good idea, but there are a lot of features to consider in terms of thickness.

I agree with a lot of your comments. I have a large 20K+ Anker bank for when I’m flying or know that I won’t have outlet access for an extended period of time but it’s not feasible to throw in my pocket for EDC. I know they have the lipstick sized chargers but then you have to deal with a cord and managing that all in your pockets. I would love a case that would give just enough power to let me get through a long day of work and then an evening out without having to stress about whether or not I’m going to have to enough battery to get an Uber home.

I know that everyone has varying definitions of “heavy use” so it becomes a task of analyzing a variety of users and determining what size case would work best. If only they had a community of power users that they could poll or pull data from…
