Anker 60W 6-Port Family-Sized Desktop USB Charger with PowerIQ Technology - Has killed two of my OEM iPhone cables

Good Afternoon Community,

I am having an issue and hoping you can help me out.

I have been using the Anker 60W 6-Port Family-Sized Desktop USB Charger with PowerIQ Technology for the past year with no issues until recently.

I had connected my OEM iPhone charger and after some use it stop charging. I tried the USB charger on different locations within the ports it has, tried the OEM wall plug and it none worked.

I maybe thought the OEM iPhone cable went bad. Since my phone is less than a year old, I went to the Apple store and ended up getting a new USB cable.

The new cable worked fine for around two weeks and now guess what, this new USB cable is dead. My other USB cables that I have connected to it are OK. I am not sure why all of a sudden two OEM iPhone cables are dead.

Let me know what you guys and gals think

Apple OEM cables are garbage. I have seen friends and family go through about 100 of them over the years. Meanwhile my brother is still using the same Anker braided lightning cable I gave him about 2 years ago with Zero signs of wear.

Do yourself a favor and get an Anker cable. Now if that one dies, then yea, there is something going on. But for right now, just get an Anker lighting cable

thanks guys. I do have Anker cables ( I know better ). these ones are OK. Like I said, it is weird that all of a sudden the iPhone cables are dead. Does it have to do with the load these cables can handle.

Probably just a bad batch of cables.

If you need more in the future Anker has cables with a lifetime warranty as I’m sure you know level 9😁

I’ve never owned an apple charger but I’m guessing that may be a possibility. Give it a try with an Anker cable and if it happens again, maybe it’s the actual USB charger

for sure. I will be buying some more

this is what i am testing now. I have connected by Anker cable to it and will see what happens. My other USB cable is from my OnePlus and nothing has happened to it. I am leaning towards faulty/cheap OEM iPhone cables

Do some more testing and let us know your results. For right now, let’s hope it was just a bad batch just like @TheDude said

I have to agree with the others here, it’s got to be the OEM cables. It wouldn’t make sense for other cables to work with the Anker Desktop Charger and not the OEM cable. Anker cables are the way to go. I’ve switched out all my OEM cables with Anker cables.

Others may say it but I would chime in that your cables are suspect. Your phone is what will limit the amount of energy supplied to your device. This limited value won’t do anything to a well made aftermarket cable or an OEM (really cheap ones are always suspect to not handling the correct powers). The issue you see with OEM versus aftermarket is that an OEM would usually be built to last as long as possible while being the minimum required conatruction to handle energy. Make it a point to upgrade these cables as soon as possible in order to save yourself further aggravation.
