Hi I just bought this cool hub thinking I could finally have my workstation far away from my studio desk, but unfortunately it is not working at all, once I connect it, it simply give me an error in the device manager " unknown device" I simply like to connect my keyboard and mice to it, but to no avail. I look to see if I could get a driver for it, nothing from Anker. I’m running Wins 7 64bits on a HP XW8400 3.0GHZ 16GB ram. Does this can work on old computer like this monster, I’m wondering now. Any idea what that can be.
Anker 4-Port USB 3.0 Ultra Slim Data Hub not working at all with HP XW8400 workstation
I do no deal with hubs too much but I did find this on the Anker hub amazon site:
"2.4 GHz wireless devices (such as wireless keyboards and mice) and some USB 3.0 devices may not be supported, or may not work in close proximity to a hub or other USB 3.0 device. "
So quote from description of this hub may be part of the issue. The USB 3 should run on USB 2 or 1 ports but will only run at those ports speeds.
Hopefully you can find a fix
Hi, received message on Amazon but still from Anker support, it simply does not work with my HP XW8400, windows 7 Pro SP1 64 bits.
HP XW8400, does not work, why? I can see “Generic Hub” showing up in device manager, but anything that I connect to it just give me an error in device manage “unknown device”. For about 1 sec or 2 at the moment I connect let see an ILok key I can see that the ILok get it’s led on but the it shut down, same goes with mouce or keyboard that I try to connect to it. all those device work correctly when connected direct to the computer. The hub work ok on my macbook air which is way more recent. I try on a HP NW8440 window 7 ultimate 32 bits, exact same problem, the Ilok is showing when connected direct but not using the hub. Si I try it on an HP Elitebook 8530p, windows 7 Pro SP1 64 bits, exactly same result. On a pc with windows XP sp2 it actually ask for the driver, so no hub 4 port drive for that one. So my question is there any hub that will work on older pc, if so which one?
The fact that the USB devices connected to the hub only power on briefly tells me that the hub might not be receiving enough power. Older USB 2.0 ports only provide 5V 0.5A of power which is typically not enough to power the hub and other devices at the same time. Are there any other USB ports on your computer you can test with? The USB ports with a blue color are typically USB 3.0 which provide more power.
