3-Port USB Hub/1000g converter question

I have a Surface Laptop that has only one USB port and no ethernet port. I use a USB mouse (never learned to love the touch pad), and its USB connector lives in the only port. I bought the Anker 3 Port Hub with the ethernet converter, thinking I could connect to an ethernet cable and still use my mouse. I have installed the proper driver, btw. Anyway, the mouse is dead if ethernet cable is plugged in, but works great if not. What am I doing wrong? If both are not supposed to work together, I didn’t see it in the description.

My understanding based on the hub design and documentation, is that you should be able to utilize both the USB and Ethernet ports at the same time as long as the USB devices do not have a high power load requirement (like a USB3.0 self powered HDD). It could be a windows setting prevent dual use of the port and/or an issue with the hub.

I would suggest you drop support@anker.com an email with your hub serial no, issue & any troubleshooting steps taken for assistance under your warranty.
