What’s Your Opinion? | Portable Charger Sharing

So this seems to be Ankerbox competing with Anker Powercore mostly with added fear of spam/malware.

I carry around my own power bank… and 2 when I travel. But I don’t think this is a bad idea at all. If it’s An Anker product, then I trust it. I’d be more worried about someone finding a knock off, thinking it’s an Anker product, and damaging their devices than anything else.

My reply got deleted in the previous post. But the airport here in Vermont had something similar but all were being used mostly by the workers there I assume as I didn’t see many people around using one. Would be great and convenient if there was enough to support a large group of users.

Very very intrigued :open_mouth:

In France, in most train stations, we have a cycling station with 4 bikes. The bikes power USB outlets, on which people plug their smartphones. I don’t use them because I always carry a power bank, but these stations are always full with people willing to put some juice in their phones. I could see a charging station like this in France. People would definitely use them.

If the power station/power banks were made out of antimicrobial materials that would be a huge selling point for me to use these stations.

The biggest concern with these services is the condition that the chargers are kept, they may have been abused by previous renters potentially putting your device at risk of damage via the charging port.

Fair point. But in this case, I guess Anker take good care of their chargers, right, @AnkerOfficial?

Great stuff Anker!

Yes, this is the first time to use vote function, it’s good to know your thought!

This is really a cool idea. I’ve seen charging stations, that would need you to leave your phone, but charging while wandering around is a great idea. Great for Casinos if they could keep people from stealing it.

According to the voting result, we found a lots of western people no need for sharing charger, and also worried about its charging speed and privacy issues.

But in China, many people don’t have the habit of carrying their own charger, so that’s why sharing charger have market in China.

voted!! :sunglasses:

EE in the UK did do similar with a 2600mah stick powerbank, but there was a fire risk so they recalled all of them. If Anker does this i would have 100% confidence on the product safety! It could be nice to team up with a mobile operator to do this in their stores here in the UK, would be so convienent when out and about.

It wasn’t quite the same. They gave about a free battery and you could change it at the store for a fully charged one.

This is renting a fully loaded battery for x amount of time
to charge your device, then return battery to the stand.

Love the voting feature!

Is it like Redbox where if you forget to return it you end up buying it? I’m pretty sure I’d forget to return it on time. Does the device become useless if you forget to return it? Can you return it to another station or only to the same station?

Hope Anker box can dominate the UK market!

Yes, you can return to another station and if you forget to return, it will charge you one yuan per hour, and Maximum 10 yuan per day.
