What’s Your Biggest Work From Home Fail? (Contest!)

My biggest Work From Home Fail was forgetting my webcam was still on.
I was in presentation mode so I didn’t see my own video.

It was a beautiful sunny day and the :sun_with_face: was shining through the window.
Over time it got quite warm in my winter sweater. So I just took off the sweater.

Yes, I am a woman and no, I didn’t wear anything underneath. :flushed:

Only my CEO and an important customer were in the meeting.
After a few seconds, my CEO interrupted me “we can see you” …

That moment when you wish the floor would open up.

Addendum: I cannot say whether the customer bought because of or despite the incident …

Thanks for the chance to win prizes.

My biggest problem is my internet. I live out in country and our internet sucks. It goes in and out all day.

My biggest fail was not realizing that my mic wasn’t muted, but my professors was and loudly, and sounding very exasperated, stating this his mic is muted to my roommate. Unfortunately, the entire class heard and I promptly left the call due to not being able to take that humiliation. I definitely make sure my mic is muted now!

My laptop is making weird loud noise I have to get out of my backyard to cool myself. My laptop gets hot. The sound of its noise is like running the cars on the road. So weird. I need to upgrade it for this spring tech cleaning.

#AnkerWork My biggest work from home fail happened just recently. I was sitting at my desk just working away when my daughter got home. For some reason, our dog lost it and jumped truly high. She hit my desk and my water went flying…right on my laptop…huge sigh…I was frantic but the laptop dried out and thankfully was fine. I lost the work I had done that day but was able to save the day with the laptop. We laugh about silly Faith and her jumping skills now.

thanks, #ankerwork #ankerofficial
teachers conference with all teachers of a big school, lasted at about 2 hours
really realy bad internet connection, i wasn´t aware of it
me posing answering some questions (at about 20!)
afterwards i heard of on of my best colleagues, that i always was at least 3 topics behind!
and i always interrupted (with every single question and answer) my boss, while she was talking and explaining important informations to all teachers and she was explaining and speaking.
to me the conversation seemed to be actual and up to date, but for the whole colleagues it was not!!!

I too have a cat that turns many a Zoom meeting into its own show. That may still be okay within the company, but when you’re sitting in front of the camera in a suit and suddenly the cat thinks it absolutely has to sit on the notebook keyboard, such a meeting quickly becomes stressful.

My biggest fail from home repeats every second week, when our dear cleaner cleans our whole apartment. Unfortunately he is not very projectable in his schedule. Which means that I always block a long time in my calendar, that he doesn’t vacuum via I’m having an important Webmeeting. Sometimes I’m successful…

I think the best one is when I was on a zoom call and my husband and son were in the kitchen (right next to the dinning room where I was on the call) and the farting contest began. Laughing, and farting as loud as they could while I’m trying to hold my composure and wave at them to stop! They we’re having a blast and I was completely mortified. That’s one of the first that came to mind, but with my kiddos and hubby, something is always going on! We make the best of it!

It’s usually the cats, right? I can live with that. But the biggest work from home fail I’ve had was my laptop actually dying mid-meeting. I had to dial in from my phone AND buy a new computer that I was not expecting to have to replace. Heavy sigh.

My biggest fail was “muting” my mic to tell my kids to be quiet and instead I turned on my mic and had the training session recorded with the speaker asking everyone to be quiet. [#AnkerWork]

My biggest work from home fail is, that I have to use older equipment for homeschooling. Equipment which is not made for such an event.

And, of course, at one day I was wearing a pyjama at homeschooling. Which everyone noticed!

My biggest work from home fail was when I thought it would be cute to hold my infant son on my lap during a zoom call, and he spit up on my new blouse!

My work from home fail was when I was on a training course zoom call. I live in an apartment with bike storage outside but my first bike was stolen so after insurance paid out I moved my bike inside. Since I live in apartment though the space is limited so I had to mount it too the wall but of course whilst I was on the zoom call the bike popped out the mounting bracket and fell on my head!

One of my biggest work from home fails that comes to mind is something that happened last week, where I woke up and found that my phone and internet had gone out and I was scheduled to log into work in about 5 minutes, so I had to find a get a connection somehow. That day in particular it was important for me since I need to be online in an open Zoom session for my students to visit and ask any questions they might have as they do their assignments from home, as well as an one-on-one appointment with another student. Luckily I made sure to have some contingency plans in case of emergency, so I had a wireless hotspot device checked out from the college I work for, but I would have been in trouble if I didn’t have that.

Biggest at home fail is I spent 40 minutes reviewing a topic in presentation form only to realize I was not taking to my coworkers but my daughters classmates. Somehow I forgot to log her off .

Since I was working from home before quarantime, I’ve had longer to make WFH mistakes than others — one of the worst has been the errors I’ve taken with my health. Turns out humans aren’t designed to be chained to a desk 12 hours a day! You gain weight, your heart gets weak, your skin becomes translucent, and your hair forgets where its supposed to be growing. Even though it was my new year’s resolution last year… this year, for sure, is the year I start going out and doing things when I’m off work. Can’t wait! ^^

I was working on a call and no one answered me. I think it was due to being talked over. My microphone was broken and did not work. No one even thought to say anything.

Who will read all those funny stories and find out the “real, true” winner?
Hope Anker got a new employee to do that pretty hard job!:rofl:
