Weekend activities! (old thread reanimated)

First snow of the year today.
All white ourtside
“White Christmas”, some may be dreaming of such one, not me.
The more snow the more the “melting” of my fire wood.

btw. If I would buy beech wood for firing now,
I would have to pay the double than I did in spring.
Same ist with natural gas and electricity.
The prices will be doubled in 2023.
This I is more than a heavy inflation.

Hey all I’m chilling at home sick really not fun. Hope everyone else is staying healthy this time of year. I know a bunch of other people are sick as well. Sometimes it doesn’t matter how careful you try to be it still catches you.

Guess that means I have more time to 3D print some stuff for the holidays but wish I was feeling better for sure.

Wishing all warm and healthy wishes

My daughter who is learning for the last exam here at home, caught a cold as well.

Not me!
A Neanderthaler like me is absolutely immune, living in cold caves for 10 thousand of years.

Wish you a speedy recovery, Kaitlyn!

We here in SoCal are the envy of many of those in the bitter cold. We are having mid-70’s to 80’s (24c - 27c) today and Christmas day tomorrow…

Happy Holidays to all here!

Last day of 2022!

What are you planing for 2023?

Me?
Not much, try to keep me healthy and alert.
That’s all I need and want.

Btw. How do you think about fireworks?
Last year it it wasnt allowed here.
This year it is.
Seems that people need that kind of “burning their money”
No crisis when spending money for that.

I don’t.
But those who need should do it.
Worst is always to find huge piles of trash on the streets next day.

Pretty loud fireworks here. Happy new year!

Just staying indoors and relaxing…it’s currently raining. Even it were not raining, the girlfriend & and would NOT be out “celebrating”. Too dangerous with people trying to drive. They cant even drive under normal conditions…add in rain and booze and you have plenty of disaster potential. Staying safe and sound inside where it’s dry and warm.

Happy New Year to all here…especially old buds like @Chiquinho & @professor

Yes was pretty loud here too.
Interesting is, that the fireworkers are mostly “simple persons” (social assistance)

What shall we do in 2023 here?
Think we view will stay and having fun as usual.

May be we should open some interesting threads to talk about things we haven’t been discussing before.

But first of all to you : HAPPY NEW YEAR and greetings from München.

Nice weather outside. Sunny.

I have to finish some tax statements this week.
These are getting more and more complicated,
because the administration is always happy to invent new rules and laws.
Without that creativity, they would not have any right to exist.

While my family doesn’t do fireworks there are a lot of place and people near me that do fireworks for the new year so sometimes I can see them from my house. The past couple years someone on my block has had a mariachi band come and play outside so that’s always fun to listen to.

Mariachi bands are awesome! Being from the Los Angeles area, I grew up with hearing this kind of music. While it’s not something I would listen to on a regular basis, they are fantastically skilled performers and their sound is so musical and unique.

Happy safe New Year!

Mariachi are much better than those fireworks.
No pollution of the air and the streets.

I found this funny video

Great rhythm and fantastic music.

Happy New Years to all.

Really did not hear fireworks around my house this year…

I will say my first few days in the new year has been eventful so far (with its own fireworks LOL).

Brought in the new year was a good start as it was pretty calm but then had some issues where my hot water did not want to flow correctly (think I need to flush the sediments out of the tank) and then had to spend 8 hours (6 pm to 2 am) working to do some conversion testing… I will say I am pretty tired as I had to get up around 5:30

Here its mostly the calcification of the water making a lot of trouble.
The water is coming from the mountains (limestore) so it’s really too hard.
13,6 und 18,6 Grad deutscher Härte (dH)

This is different to the USA scale
Here we have
ppm CaCO3 (USA) 1 ppm = 0,056 dh

In München its about 16 dh.
This is hard.
I bought a canister with formic acid years ago.
The best stuff to work with, if one is very careful and knows how to handle.
Lasts very long because its high concentrated (75%) and needs to be watered down a lot.

Well, I will say that I went to flush it today after it had another issue with the hot water stopping. After flushing, I did a check of the elements and found a little water leak coming from the tank. So a flushing turned into a new hot water heater.

Too bad I could not use my Anker bucks or soundcore notes on the new tank… Lol
