That looks amazing and delicious. Love Maple syrup, expensive but worth it. I don’t love your temperature swings, but that is a pretty good consolation prize.

Truly some the best I have ever had and I am not being biased at all. My wife and brother in law both tried it and the look on their faces said it all.

No idea how/why it is tasting so much like vanilla, be it the early spring weather for here or what, but I left some thin for a couple friends to put in their old fashioneds.

Thats the difference : home made, pure, no chemicals etc. 
You should take look at those syrups made by “food industry” and their ingredients.
Don’t know how the laws are in the US.
Don’t know what the professional syrup brewers can!!! add to the products.
“color, preservatives, artificial taste” etc.
The food chemistry is a “devil’s science”.
They are able to produce something from really sh*t.

Very true, plus gifts for people will be fun this year because I plan on putting them in 2oz or 4oz bottles (depending on how much I get) and then giving them out around Easter and what not. No joke, after putting another tap in I am getting a full bucket of sap every 2.5 days now. My wife is hating this, plus I am blowing through LP like it is going out of style.

I made a nice finding at the flea yesterday.
What a nice painting (oil on canvas)
After cleaning it the colors are brilliant.
We call it “Das Marei” (that’s an old bavarian name for a “little Maria”)
Seems she his waiting for her boyfriend, offering him this little bunch of flowers.
What one also sees is a mounted embroidery frame.
I would date it about 1850, typical “Biedermeier”.
The frame of the painting has some parts to restore and I started the work today.
Filling the missing parts with putty.
Next will be grinding and varnishing.
When all is ready I will show the painting again.
Its a real keeper.

You should take it and have it appraised…it might be worth a small fortune.
We have a television show here in the states (that I believe originated in the U.K.) that is run on various PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) stations (we have four here in Southern CA) called “Antiques Roadshow” that travels to various cities and allows people to bring in whatever type of items for appraisal by experts. Some very interesting items are brought in and some are appraised for a lot of money. They televise all types of the items that people have brought in, not just the high-dollar appraised ones…sometimes to reveal that the item is “faked” or made to look old or “authentic” and to try and convey a lesson that not all items that look old or valuable actually are.
Nice find, Franz. Even if not valuable, it’s a nice painting and most times, all that matters is that you find it pleasing.

There is such a television show as well here in Germany.
But I know many connoisseurs here in München, so I have to show the painting first to them.
I am in that "antioque business since 45 years, so I know about quality.
Of course I know its an original from ca 1850.
It was a real bargain (15 Euros) 
I found a signature on the belt ot the embroidery frame,
Its a monogram “ML”, may be this is a way to find the painter.
This will help a lot to estimate the value.
But , I will not sell, so the value is not so important for me.
I will do more restoring work on the frame.

Andrea Bocelli is my wife’s favorite vocalist and artist. He toured a few years ago in the US in a very few cities’ various symphonies accompanying him. I was only able to afford absolute nosebleed seats that made him look no bigger than an ant. Despite that my wife was absolutely beside herself to hear him in person; she didn’t think she would ever get the opportunity. Not my style of music but his voice was absolutely incredible.
Bocelli had numerous specials that ran on PBS stations here in the Southern California (at least) area. Great voice and immensely talented. Although not my kind of music, I did enjoy watching those specials. I appreciate music that is actually music.
