For any given Wattage, USA electric wiring are safer than USA as the halving of the voltage means a doubling of the current, so the cable has to be 40% thicker to be safer in USA than in EU.
The issue is therefore the voltage and if the circuit breaker is triggered by Voltage or current. If it’s triggered by Voltage (unlikely) then the powerstrip will simply never work in EU. If triggered by current, it will under-fail and be way over its Wattage rating before tripping.
