The Gift Of Power! 100s of Power Prizes Up For Grabs! 🎁

True and good point. I’d obviously check to make sure everything works before actually plugging it in. We’ve talked about getting a generator, but they’re a big expense up front. There was a big wind storm a couple weeks ago that knocked out power for 3 days. I was thinking it could be powerful enough for the deep freeze, or the even the hot water heater so we all could shower. I need to go and check the power consumption of those things anyway. At the very least it could just power a few lamps since the sun sets here around 4:30pm this time of the year.

@Chiquinho that would be the real test. Who will have the ice for the drinks??? Hahaha.

I think the same.
Too small to weak.
Could be useful for camping.

If I would live in such an area where power cut often happens,
I would mount a generator working with fuel or diesel.

“strength through diversity”

Ice doesn’t have parts to fail. And once melted you can drink it.

I do keep Powercore for phones etc, Bolder flashlights charged, solar panels, gas and alcohol camping stoves. I did have a gas water heater break once so no hot water and used stove to heat water and just a “flannel clean” - which is skill I used recently as broken leg couldn’t get in the shower.

Not saying don’t get or want a Powerhouse, just diversity of options. So wood fire, etc.

I have a chest freezer, no more than a week’s worth of food, with the meat lower half surrounded by vegs so can eat it as it defrosts, and a drain hole in the bottom for the melt water. Then it’s dried food then tinned food.

Anything longer than a week then it’s “get out of Dodge” run away.

I’d just not rely on one piece of technology to operate another piece of technology.

The older folks are used to pre-technology methods, the young probably in their lifetime will suffer a CME temporary reversion to 19th century methods.

I know in 19 century the breweries were cutting ice in the winter and stored it in special places (basements deep under earth). ,so it was possible to keep the beer cool in summer.
This would be an option if one gets a shovel!

Indeed

I’m not suggesting we go back to sailing to Antarctica and towing an iceberg to park near a city port, but some thinking as a 19th century person would help someone born in 21st century.

I completely forgot all about that one lol

Dangerous such sailing and expeditions.-

One of the brew pubs I’ve been to, uses icebergs for their beer… I didn’t appreciate the beer at the time… but sounds like they have many other choices now…

(A) I would give #TheGiftOfPower to my whole family to use it and (B) I would give anker 622 to mom to keep her phone charged.

FYI to everyone that the Gleam winners were announced

All well known members, so far!:rofl::rofl:

They were sending out notifications for the Series 5/6/7 today from what I could tell as DM’s for the community ones.

Success?

I found funny that mr random had selected multiple times, a few users… those that showed more than once should consider a lotto tik as future purchase as 1 in 27k or 1 in 187k is tough once let alone thrice…

Hope to see who from the community won, and seeing the one had 55 prizes and less than 50 qualified replies…

I received a DM today for my details - must be for series 5 as that’s the only one I entered.

Well done to any other series 5 winners and also to those that entered the series 6 & 7!
