Soundcore 2 doesn't reconnect

Just got a Soundcore 2 to use primarily with my Moto X4. I’ve been experiencing an issue that I have not had even with other Anker bluetooth speakers. The initial pairing between the speaker and my phone went smoothly and the speaker sounds great. However, when I turn off the speaker and turn it back on again the next day (or a few minutes later), the speaker does not automatically reconnect with the phone. I have to go into bluetooth settings and then select the Soundcore 2 from the list of “Previously connected devices” in order to get the speaker to connect to my phone. I’ve tried cycling bluetooth on my phone off and back on while the speaker is on, but it still doesn’t connect. The only way I got it to reconnect automatically was by restarting the phone while the speaker was on (blue light blinking slowly). I don’t want to restart my phone every time I want to use the Soundcore 2, though, so I wouldn’t consider that a solution.
At the end of the day, this is a pretty minor inconvenience, but it is a deficiency compared to how all other bluetooth devices function. I’m used to pairing a device with my phone once and then on subsequent restarts, the device immediately reconnects to the phone without any manual intervention. Has anyone else had a similar experience with the Soundcore 2? I’m wondering if it’s a compatibility issue with the Moto X4 or something.
Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: I should also mention that I updated the Soundcore 2 to the latest firmware and that did not fix the problem.

Just a guess…

Is the Moto Bluetooth 5?
As the Soundcore is BT 5, it maybe (just a thought) a bt clash thing as to why you have to connect each time?

If your device is 4.2 while it may connect, it may not like reconnecting to a 5???

Have you tried unpairing the speaker, resetting the bluetooth on the speaker and then repairing it to your phone?

I checked that because I also thought that might be the issue. The Moto X4 (Android One version) spec page says it has BT 5.0 BR/EDR + BLE, so I think it should be okay.

I’ll give that a try.

I’m running Android pie/Samsung one, and I don’t have any issues with Soundcore 2.
