So it turns out…if I just leave the phone on the stand for a few minutes, whatever is initially blocking the charge stops blocking it, and it starts working like normal.
Is Anker PowerWave 7.5 compatible with new iPhone 12 Pro?
Was encountering this issue with my iPhone 12 Pro, followed suggestions here to try padding both bottom and back and managed to get it to (delicately) work.
Turns out the Apple silicone case I just got is enough on its own to give the distance for consistent charging. A friend just confirmed it solves the problem for him as well. Definitely looks to be an issue of “magnetic or metal attachments and other foreign objects will interfere with charging.”
A stack of about 30 Post It notes behind the phone with no padding on the bottom has been working really well for me.
If you increase distance, you give more area for the signal to spread wider to help with alignment, but also means its a weaker signal.
So do you notice on charging times?
Not sure about charge rate or time. I have this on my desk at work so my phone just kind of sits on it all day. I’ll try to keep an eye on it going forward, though.
This is upsetting, but at least you can prop up your phone to make it work correctly
I’ve found another workaround is to sit the phone down vertically on the stand…but not centered at first. I start with my iPhone a bit off to the left, the Powerwave Stand will light up blue and start charging without error, then I can just gently slide the phone over to center it and it continues charging normally. This method works great for me on the new 12 Pro Max with a 3rd party Spigen case on it.
