You having fun @Tank
Happy 4th Anniversary | Exclusive Giveaway Inside!
He doesn’t like me from a previous thing I posted over about the SmartDrop there that was posted here prior, so I figured that was what it was coming from. It’s all good, I just figured he would, you know, give Some kind of indication as to what was up, but oh well.
How are they going to verify if we own a Eufy product. I’m trying to win my first one
I’m looking…
I keep seeing all through computer science and general relativity. Geek. Bad customer facing skills. A customer once said really dumb thing and I thought I was on mute. Oops.
And by doesn’t like me, I really mean it. I gave him the reason why I posted it as it was posted here, and he never so much as said anything back to it. I am not a power user, I was aware of the NDA, but yet I got a nice idle threat from it as well as there was a similar post on the same forum from 5 days beforehand that had the exact same photos I had, yet I was the one who he went after.
Could be worse. @Insider
As it’s not me but you, I can be philosophical. If an online relationship is soured, just create a new account.
Kind of, I’m referring to either rounded down or nearest. Plus there is no absolute time anyway, it can be 9.59.59 UTC where you are and yet by the time the DB commit it’s 10.00.01 UTC. Someone nearer the server can be chronological after you but appear before you. Speed of light.
But I get the point, personal, soured, takes fun out of competitions.
I liked how Pei here resolved the last auction, seemed fair to let those who didn’t know someone else had decided they were going to win, win but at the cost of if the other person never existed. On Eufy, gosh, I’d say let you both win or something to keep the peace. Can always cancel / delay the next competition to make up for it in the budget.
Yes, I was very impressed with Pei’s resolution on the last one with issues here.
Over there, there are supposed to be two more auctions based on their original posts. But the first three were all in a row, now there has been nothing for long enough that it is unclear what they are going to do next.
Wow I was gonna try for one of them but realized I had no way being towards the top so decided against it. And now this fiasco which doesn’t change my feelings for that community but makes it stronger.
Oh well nothing we can really do but I do agree with @Fuu_bar on this that the time posted should be considered and I think even @professor agreed on that in one of his posts (if I read them correctly). Either way I’m glad it’s @Unnamed who ended up winning over some random person
To split the hair, it is more random the more you focus.
On here the customer centric view seems strong, when two disagree pick a 3rd way which makes both happy.
Supposedly they are going to be monthly from what the first auction said, but it also said they would be doing 5 of them in a row so I doubt that is going to be the case anymore.
@professor, I unfortunately have had to deal with a whole slew of system time issues with one of my clients. They have a scheduled task that runs every 10 minutes during their month end/quarter end close periods. We were trying to figure out why their MaxL was not causing the data to be loaded completely from their db before it moved it to another location that ran a couple of calc scripts against it. Come to find out their system time was off by about 26 seconds by comparison to our server which was causing the script to not know when it was supposed to move the data over. Took about 9 hours of log diving to realize that it was triggering the way it was and low and behold, system time issue. Some days I love my job, others not so much.
Honestly, I am just throwing my complaints out there out of frustration but I truly am happy it went to @Unnamed. I was not going to use it personally, I was going to install it on my brother-in-law’s door because I just had new doors/hardware installed about a week ago anyway. It is more of a “Hey, can we get an explanation”, which was promptly ignored, which circles back to my “The interaction from staff is more direct/informative, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it becomes a very dry interaction fairly quickly.”
It’s even worse with Discourse hosted in AWS. The docker images running on Linux VMs with NTP set every 1024s eventually means there’s always clock drift.
It’s best sum up to say “the decision of the judge is final” and take everything global and time with a very large dose of salt.
The webpages can display to the second and so you can see what the admin sees, you’d then see 10.00 was something else. You’d potentially say how your watch showed a quite different time due to clock drift.
The ToS does not allow you to embed the script to show to the second the current system time. Tell you what to not break the ToS I’ll PM myself and see if some HTML allows to embed current system clock to the second in a post. If I find a way I’ll propose to admin as a rule for time based events.
Hey, could you fill me in on the story?
Well for one I can see your post so I know you don’t own one …but its about users already having a eufy security account for the app and that can be confirmed via checking the database.
Cross posted something Insider posted here about the SmartDrop but hadn’t put on their forum. So after I did and some people commented on it, I got the direct message I posted. I didn’t know which NDA he meant at the time (I found out after) and let him know that as well as the context to my post. After that I never got a response back as well as nothing in the forum since from him. Again, not mad, but it is a hell of a lot different when it comes to “relationships” with people on there from the staff. Lack of response, 0 explanation for things, 0 justification for it all, etc. I understand the “reserves the right to final explanation” but I have yet to see said explanation at all.
Always quote link to sources then the issue is the source, not you.
If the source broke their NDA and publically used NDA material then it’s their fault not yours
I (try to) quote sources.

So is this thing still going, or is it REALLY done now?
