Anker Community Profile - Hidden / Open-Public Profile for Auction Events!

I really don’t understand the argument for having your account hidden. The argument sounds very illogical and counterintuitive.

All I can say is I 100% agree with @ndalby’s post above

The auction usually runs for days and I don’t think @Ankerofficial has that much leisure time to play referee for that amount of time and watch people not to make mistakes. And once a bid is placed you will have a counter-bid within no time and it will be hard to correct any bids past few minutes, that will disrupt the whole event.

All I’m saying is referee cannot control this kind of events.

I have to say I have never got into the Auction as I tend to not to have the points due to I get sucked into the Powerdraw a lot (500 in like 3 weeks). Thus the reason why I do not play the lottery or scratch off that much in real life.

I can see the good and bad in each.

If you are talking about burner accounts and inflating the auction that is bad faith and outright greed. I have a hard enough time keeping up with the ones on each Anker/Soundcore site.

As one person may be psyching the others by adding a large amount of buck to prevent them from bidding more, it may be seen as others as inflating the auction price.

So to me it just depends on how you want to do the auction. To prevent inflation of the prize if not a mystery box, you can set a cap on the amount of bucks that the product would be in worth in “buck”. If the bids are below the cap then whomever is on top wins. If it hits the cap then everybody can bid for the item at the cap level and the winner will be selected randomly. So say a charger is 25 dollars but it is worth say 2500 in “anker bucks”. So somebody can win it at 1800 at the end of the auction or win it at 2500 with 7 other who are willing to bid 2500 for the product.with a random drawing at the cap.

Interesting idea, would kinda be like the PowerDraw with slightly better odds but at a premium…

Setting a cap is a great idea!!

With all due respect, I would say… Destroys the fun and charm of auction…Just scrap auction And have PowerDraw!

@AnkerOfficial can your developers create an application which checks for number of Powerbucks a user has and allows the user to bid only in multiple of 10, Max 100 PB per Bid and completely stops user from bidding once he exceeds the total PB count!!!

This is doable on software, have created similar application on .Net and SQL… Needs to be explored

What are your thoughts @AnkerOfficial can you discuss with your developers / engineers?

Don’t think it as waste of time, you can use this for your other platforms such as Soundcore or Eufy Security forum

This is a logical, no Non-sense, technical response!

We will continue to disagree

By the way… If members support being open and public with profiles and Powerbucks… But themselves decide to hide. What a contradictory situation!

If supporting a stance, support it 100% to the end.

By no means am i asking you to un-hide, Happy that you still have it hidden

Me and AnkerTechnical, as well as the old Ankerofficial discussed this exact thing. They said they would further explore the idea in Q3 and Q4 of 2019… it appears that it never happened.

Btw I hate the idea of a cap on bids. If someone wants to blow 5000+ bucks on a $50 Speaker that’s their business. It’s just a higher chance of you winning next time.

I love to test your patience :grinning: @Shenoy

welcome to try! I neither gain nor lose anything with you hiding or unhiding

So be my guest!

Hope I made my point earlier

Not aware of that discussion, may it was private or i may have forgotten.

Anyway, with new @AnkerOfficial admin now, may be something to check and explore.

Yes it was a private message

Now we have got this topic in limelight, being discussed widely, so let us see what happens.

As @ndalby states, this is illogical.

So that means it is rules you prefer not what everyone prefers.

Illogical. A low member can bid regardless right now.

Only if implemented which is incredibly difficult as you’d have to watch and remove every fake bid immediately to stop the immediate then outbid.

See above. You’d have to retrospectively remove the over-bidding with effectively random outcomes, you’d probably end up with those with real very high bucks winning, because they can and then have less than their last bid deducted to cancel the fake bids.

Does not exist. A low member just creates another account, they have nothing to lose after all.

You’re not making any sense here at all. Sorry.

Better to be fair with all bucks visible, and the simplest way is to make all profiles visible and folks just edit away anything they don’t want known, like location, name, etc.

Only if the referee at end of the game them replays the entire game and then decides someone cheated mid-way, then removed all of their subsequent causal results, then recomputed how everyone would act. Would require a perfect genius of a referee.

Correct.

You are totally 100% fully allowed to determine you own privacy.

You are not allowed to set yourself different rules and then call it fair.

You’re arguing basically you are deliberately shielding your PBs to, somehow, increase your chance of winning, when others have not hidden. That is the definition of unfair.

The definition of fair would be to all PBs visible.

whatever you guys talk, makes it look illogical to me too!

There are differences in opinion, so be it. it is my opinion that keeping profile hidden is good, so whatever you write will make zero sense to me and to whomever thinks the same, sorry!

I know you are a technical person… does the below make sense to you?

Just writing the same things over and over and over will not change anything, things have to come from Anker Community Admin.

Not sure what this is??? I am not setting any rules for myself - using whatever is already available…

I have not ASKED anyone or everyone to show your POWERBUCKS. Just because anyone chooses to show your points and Powerbucks to everyone, you cannot use that "Pretext"to ask everyone to show their powerbucks… Completely illogical !

Hope sense prevails!

You are entitled to privacy, make your online persona whatever you like from fully hidden to fully open. If anyone wanted to attack your privacy, I have your back!

You are arguing something else entirely, not about privacy, but using a per-user on/off ability to skew chances, that makes those who hide their PBs equal to someone who makes multiple accounts to drive up the bid knowing the winner loses PBs and the worst happens is they have the burner account gone. So you are arguing for bad behavior in what should be just a bit of light fun.

The issue is the Admins should not make a private profile public, there may be some valid reason to shield it. They probably don’t have in the discourse platform total control of what is private vs public.

One example way to make it fair is state the rules up front, people with hidden PBs are not allowed to bid at all. That’s a joke to provoke the notion that fairness requires a two-way street.

Maybe if these kind of events can’t be managed officially they shouldnt take place.

Not sure why people find it so difficult to understand one simple thing… I dont want to show my powerbuck, and it is my preference.

I am not arguing anything here… just placing my opinion, not sure why you are getting so upset, just relax!

Any other auctions on eBay or had a recent School auction for items… no one shows thier bank accounts or assets? why change it here?

by the way, i liked this GIF

No other auction I’ve ever been part of requires bidders to prove they can afford, or declare what money they have, before they bid until it comes to paying for goods if won. If they can’t pay, they are banned from the auction house and the next highest bidder is offered the sale.

I don’t see why this suction on this site is any different.
It seems like things are moving away from the over inflation argument and turning into a witch hunt with the tone appearing that some believe they have the right to view others profiles.

No rules have been broken so i can’t see a problem here.

Do you honestly not see that people will use this function to cheat?
