Hey Franz @Chiquinho
The weather is certainly changing.
Getting cooler here over the weekend but warming up to 18/19 later in the week.
I tell Debs to buy a jumper instead of turning the heating on

The Oktoberfest ends now.
Will tell you something about a special price published by local media :

1/2 roasted duck (of course BIO, what else  ) 53 Euro.
Knödel (7,20) and Kraut (7,20)
Take a look at the bill.

https://www.tz.de/muenchen/wiesn/news-oktoberfest-2022-muenchen-wiesn-ammer-entenbraterei-rechnung-facebook-91818585.html

The next step will be offering a totally “vegan” duck from the 3-D-Printer.

I visited the Oktoberfest 40 years ago.
Let those do who like to have fun there and have the money to spend for that fun

No more weekend activities from others?
I am sure we few here will not end up in discussions and disputes like the others are doing at ssoundore’s forum.
It seems that soundcore’s forum is changing to a stage for two or three solo entertainers.
The only thing they want are free supporters if there are issues from users.
May be some get paid for that, I don’t know,
The only thing I know that some has left the place and the number of really regulars is shrinking.

Maybe we should dig the grave more deep, so there is place for both forums.
The company is concentration on unsocial media more and more,
so those old styled forums are not “en voque” anymore.

BUT as long the place is existing we stay, whatever it takes!

Autumn is now here and I have started to burn my highly valuable wood.
When I bought some beechwood in spring it was the 1/2 price it would cost now.
Same with fuel oil, natural gas is much even more,
They tell us the only reason is the russian/ukrainian war.
Not true at all, we all know.

But the beer price is quite stable.
ca 12/13 Euros for a box with 20 1/2 liter bottles.
Its said now there will be a lack of carbonic acid soon.
No carbonic acid no beer.
So we need Schnaps to get through the winter,

The Germans have been to “to freeze for peace” by a “
” (censored) politician.
I am sure this fellow will never freeze his butt off.

My weekend is helping family with decorating again (but least I get fed and watered (with beer) ).

Must say though I’m questioning my mothers sanity when she considers this Halloween gadget, cute :open_mouth:

This crazy puppet could lead one to insanity.
Could cause nightmares indeed, Neil.

A friend of mine has a butcher’s shop in Thuringia.
Non Germans must know that this place is beside Franconia VERY famous of the local Bratwurst.
So he sends me some from time to time.

The last packet contained a special “Haloweenwurst”.
Not causing nightmares only appetite!

The type of this sausage is still not known.
But I am sure its not a kind of pumpkin sausage.
He would not dare to create such one.

It will be “slaughtered” soon.
Not a Bratwurst of course.

Hi all few left here.
No more activities, all sleeping and waiting for the apocalypse?

Funny thing happened today :
I lifted up my 11S, the most famous 11S Robovac ever , named “old Willy”.
Something was jingling inside.
Oho, I thought there must have got something lose inside.
Surgery again?

But when I opened the dust container, I saw the reason.
The old, loyal fellow had collected a coin.
Not so much (10 cent)
But better than nothing in the crisis.

somebody left old willy a tip, for his service?

Franz, you should “accidentally drop” more coins for old Willy to find

Too bad he can’t vacuum the sofa!

What Willy is perfect for, is finding little screws which I often lose when tinkering with some
old laptops.

What everybody could do :
Replace HDD with SSD.

These are cheap meanwhile :
eg. I got a 120GB one for 12 Euros from amazon.
I dont need a lot of space.
LINUX is small (WINDOOFS not )
And my personal data are about 5GB (no films, videos stored)
So its fine.
Booting like “rockets”

8GB main memory 120GB SSD absolutely perfect.

I am often gifted old devices from friends.
The last one was an IBM thinkpad.
256mb memory, 16GB HDD and WINXP.
I did not change.
I am really wondering that in those old days WINDOOFs worked with such hardware features.

Hope everyone is doing alright. Getting pretty cold now by me. This weekend they are talking about upstate New York and other areas possibly getting six feet of snow. Hope everyone is staying safe and warm in these cold times.

We changed the house,
because the one we rented the last years is not available anymore
But the new one is even better and closer to our favourite bar.

Getting cold here as well (Southern California). We went from 95-105 degree weather to lower upper 40’s / lower 50’s (nighttime temps) in a matter of a couple of weeks
I know this is NOT cold to some who are used to much colder.

@Chiquinho

We had a house we rented here in the So Cal area (house was in Newport Beach) twice a year, once in spring (one week) and once in fall (one week). The landlord was old and owned the front and back houses (it was a small duplex) since they were built on the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach. He basically rented out the back house for $325-$375 a week during the off-season times we had
this was back in 2004-2007 or so. He could easily have charged A LOT more than that but didn’t because all of his tenants were good friends and he loved to to be surrounded by these friends (us included). My sister and her husband also had one week there during the summer
in fact , the two, one-week spots I stayed there were actually given to me by my sister since she and her husband had to miss some stays due to a new baby. They later on got a one-week spot that opened later on. I loved that place. The property was sold quite a few years ago and a brand new two-story rental was built there where they are now charging well over $2500 for the week.

Have a great holiday, Franz!

If I would expect such a mass of snow at home,
I would stay here for more time.
Hope your shovels are ready.
