No quarantine here and finally the UK Gov are sharing with home delivery the list of known vulnerable people. So I can stop doing their shopping.

Knackered yesterday after 8.4 miles walk so a person coming out of chemo has the yeast they wanted to make bread. So today is sit in garden day. Resting my legs so I can boot up the arse the hoarders who emptied the shelves.

Yep the hoarding which is going on is nuts, same with the early morning queues around car parks to get in first…as many supermarkets have now finally put in place buying limits (which should have been done day 1) for basic necessity products (such as toilet paper, bread, milk etc) you could easily go about your normal shopping routine for the week (or longer if you freeze or home bake some)…without others also losing out…just keep calm, a safe distance, cough into a tissue and wash hands and people will undoubtedly survive…

Good job were not in another great plague of London scenario as mentality these days would triple the final death tally…

Seems it really depends were you live.
Here we can walk to many supermarkets nearby.
Their different offers are calming the situation.

The first, really weird “hoarding tsunami” is going down.
Seems everyone has now stored a ton of toilet paper at home!
But what to do if there is no more input, there will be no more output to use it! :joy:

Measures put in place, after they made £1B of additional sales selling bog-roll by the trolley for weeks earlier.

It’s a lot better out there now.

So humanity is the same everywhere. Panic hoarding starts, causes a shelf to empty, then means people feel they’ll then miss out then grab as soon as the shelf restocked. The trick is to stop hoarding right at the very start.

Or not be a money-making sell-til-gone business.

Correct, the hoarding was eventually controlled, after the shops made their profits, 2 per customer type, enough to last week+ so you can shop infrequently, and as very few people actually ill, the food production and distribution not really affected, supplies build up, aided by the hoarder running of out places to store their hoard.

The actual trickiest time is yet to come, as the people who produce goods then get ill, actual supply side issues, not the demand side issues of recent past, will cause a real issue. The answer is of course there in history. Socialism. Ration, and force people to work in roles to serve the community. Just might take a while for that method from history to be remembered invented.

There’s plenty of healthy, keep your distance, work the young can be doing in a nearby field. This is a photo from the future, someone picking the cabbages they planted in April after the last frost.

It doesn’t need to get that bad. 20% disruption, in a country which wastes 30% of its food. We can optimise away the most likely issue, but not individually.

There will be roles for those who are certified as immune to fill gaps made by those in quarantine. This could be the most fun some people will have had for years.

When the Milkman falls ill I’ll do their job. Can’t be that tricky.

We count the UK Prime Minister in the quarantined group. I hope he has a Powercore  and a Nebula for the box sets.
