Eufycam stops recording

I noticed that my 4 Eufycams stopped recording. The 16 GB Sandisk that came with the Homebase turned out to be full. No overwrite. Also, the format fails. Any suggestions?

You could try here, it’s a more dedicated forum for Eufy security. I am researching buying so am interested but no hands-on ownership experience, sorry.

You can see complaints a year ago, member @yamyam of this being a bug, did you make sure it’s the latest software versions? The bug seems to be there is an encrypted database on the SD, the data gets overwritten but the metadata keeps growing so you can end up with it being full and nothing you can do.

I found this older issue that appears to be the same:

I am seeing a workaround written, format the card while in homebase via the phone app. Is that how you formatted?

Yes. I tried to format in the homebase and got an error. Formatting in my Mac works, but after that the homebase can’t use it or format it, so that doesn’t help.

Wait. I did format using FAT on my Macbook earlier, but just tried to format using exFAT. Now homebase can format it.

I am probably wasting your time with ideas, pending a wise one to appear, but suggest you power off your homebase, have the SD card out, power on, insert card, then format in the app.

If it not did work, check you did not accidentally slide to read-only the slider on the side of the SD card.

There we go, by trial and error you found a method!

Accept that it getting full is not good, bad software, but looking at the other threads, this bug would happen less often, not totally avoided, with a larger SD card, read the thread on performance above.
