Anker or Amazon (Does .1 matter)?

So I need an adapter with Ethernet and extra USB ports. Now I love anker and all but unless i missed something the only choices really are Anker 3 port with Ethernet via USB C. Or oddly enough Amazon 3 port with Ethernet via USB C. Now like I said I love Anker. Just had #ankersupport come through in a big way for me. But the amazon one is cheaper and supports 3.1, whereas Anker’s only does 3.0. Does that .1 really matter? . Am I just being an idiot for even considering it? Help. Lol

Ouch. Reading the reviews for Anker’s…not good.

USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 are basically the same thing. Sometimes.

Sounds crazy but it’s true. USB 3.0 has been renamed USB 3.1 Gen 1.
And what was previously USB 3.1 has been renamed USB 3.1 Gen 2.
Here’s a pretty good explanation:

Looking at the two items, they are both capable of 5 Gbps, meaning that they are both USB 3.1 Gen 1.

Thanks. But what about the bad reviews?

You’re sort of on your own on that one. Seems like many of the critical reviews are more than 2 years old, so maybe the quality control has improved since then.

Or I’d get this one instead:

Has everything you want plus an HDMI port.
After you clip the coupon, it’s cheaper than the Anker that you linked.
It has better reviews.

Cool. I skipped that one because I don’t need another HDMI or SD port. But if the price is lower WTH! Thanks
