I recently rescued an SSD from a failed 2013 MacBook Pro and installed it into an OWC Envoy Pro which has a USB-A connector. To use the drive with a new M1 MacBook Pro with only USB-C ports, I purchased an Anker 8-in-1 hub, however this SSD would never mount properly on the M1 even though it would on two other Macs using the USB-A cable.
I infer that the Anker hub is problematic from the fact that when I connect the SSD to the M1 MBP using an IOGear USB-A (f) to USB-C (m) adapter cable, it mounts and works perfectly well.
