7-port USB Hub erratic with my Mac

Hi,

I have two of the 7-port USB 3 hubs - one at home and one at the office. I use them with my Macbook Pro and have constant problems getting external hard drives to mount via the hub. I try a variety of combinations of plugging in the drives first, then the hub into my computer, plugging and unplugging. Eventually the drives mount, but I can’t find the pattern.

Anyone know why the hub is being so finicky?

I’m running 10.11.6 on an early 2013 model laptop

Hi @will.yurman,
It sounds like you might be running out of power. Are you using one of the powered USB hubs (one that comes with an AC wall plug)? Would you mind posting a link to the particular hub you have? Also, how many drives are you connecting?
