Premium USB-C Hub (model A8302) - On MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) Ethernet device no longer appears in System Preferences/Network

The device was working but now fails to appear in System Preferences/Network when connected with a known good ethernet cable/connection. USB ports work fine.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers?

I have not. I didn’t install the drivers in the first place. I assumed (it seems, correctly) that macOS already has drivers for the ethernet device.

OSs have generic database of drivers that are compatible with devices and finds the best suited one to use and installs it automatically (typically).

Contact Anker directly (support@anker.com) to figure out if there’s specific Ethernet controller drivers for this device.
Its always best to use the latest driver recommended by the manufacturer.
If it’s not a driver issue for sure then one can say that its the hardware.

Or if you’re able to access another USB-C (thunderbolt 3) computer, try it on there to see if it works.
