Hi I have put the camera behind a clear glass. I have a feeling if I walk in front on it it does not register anything. Only if I open a door and walk in then it registers.

Yes it should do, however you may also get false readings from reflection depending on the light.
Have you checked your recordings to see if anything has recorded?
I have a TP link camera behind glass monitoring outside motion detection works fine but I have to turn off the IR or the camera blinds itself at night. Been considering getting an IR flood light to place outside but that might be overkill it works very well as is but I did have to play with the sensitivity on the motion sensing to stop false alerts.
