Weekend activities! (old thread reanimated)

Hope you are all fine.
Was very exiting to observe the auction.
And really great that one of our “new” members made it.

Once again congratulations to @ncro.

We “old members” should really give those new ones a chance to win .

I start do a ““restoring” job” today.

Will tell you more about when I see some really efforts :grinning:

Hey everybody!
The weather here in the UK is amazing so we took the opportunity and had an early bike ride.
Rode to my parents and used dads hair clippers to trim Charlies hair. Now i think it’s too soon to change career but don’t think it turned out too badly.

As for this afternoon, maybe a little baking before watching a film.

Whatever you get up to today have a great day.

I took another photo

A bumblebee working.

May be someone likes is as I do. :grinning:

I remember when I used such a hair clipper machine
(electric one, dangerous!) the first time.

Little son was bald head after and the wife was not pleased at all.

Great Poppy Franz.
We prepared ourselves that if things went wrong we would trim his hair short all over, so was pleased when it worked out ok.

Hit the kitchen and knocked up a quick batch of rock cakes…again.
Ran out of chocolate chips so chopped up a bar of Dairy Milk.

Fresh out of the oven

In the US we call these scones.

It’s weird because we also have British scones, which I believe aren’t even what you all call scones?

All so confusing

The whole world is confusing!
We dont have any scones here at all.
But I know these.
Too bad I am not a baker.

Don’t like sweet things so much.
The less sugar the better.
The Portuguese cakes are too sweet at all.
But there is just such a immense variety.

When you visit a “cafe” there they have really an incredible variety.
Even small ones,
Its tradition.

Not here in Germany.

Its interesting what things are called from country to country.
Rock cakes are quite sweet, almost like a fat cookie just not so soft.
Scones i think are generally softer and made to add things too like jam and cream.
Very similar ingredients, different quantities.
BOTH taste great

This is what I know about.
Taken with tea mostly!

What are each of these things called where you live?

As long as food is delicious and mouth watering, does not matter from where it originates…

By the way, @paulstevenewing those rock cakes are looking :ok_hand:

Too bad we can not taste!

What I can show you typical is “Krapfen”
So called in the southern part of Germany

In the northern part these are called “Berliner”

Funny indeed these show up in Portugal as well.

“Bolos de Berlim” (Berlin em Portugues)
Often filled with pudding.
