Time for Surgery....long winded post, sorry

I’m headed in to Surgery on 7/1/2020 @0700 because the cartilage behind my kneecap is cracked and causing all types of popping, grinding and overall a ton if pain. Same knee I had surgery on (almost a year ago and a month to the day) to repair my meniscus, thankfully thats healed good and just have to deal with everything else going on in my knee.

It started back when I had to quarantine because I had an upper respiratory infection, went to get Subway one day and twisted my knee. I thought it was just that and nothing more, then it started hurting more and more. I scheduled to see my orthopedic doctor and they had me come in the next day. They took an xray and found that the spacing between my knee joints was really bad at less than 1cm gap, your normal suppose to have between 4 and 10cm spacing. This was all caused by me straining my ACL and from my understanding the tightening of my tendon or ligament, something like that. They tried to fit me to a knee brace but the hinges pushed right into where my acl is and caused more pain and the inability to walk. Luckily the folks from DonJoy was there and was able to measure me up for a custom knee brace. I had to wait two weeks for it to come in and was ordered to stay off my knee until it did. When I finally got the brace I was informed it had a telescopic hinge on the outside of my knee to help push my knee to the inside, this would allow my joints to open up so I could walk.

I was finally able to go back to work wearing this brace, but that too proved problematic as I was off and on in pain still. Worse is that even with the brace on my knee popped really bad, it was a loud pop like when you crack your joints. Except this was my knee and right after it popped you could hear my knee grinding whenever I tried to walk or bend it. Another call to the doctor and a MRI appointment, I still tried to work and took it easy at my job. But it got to the point t where I was calling out every other day or I would get through the week only to be sidelined for a few days

Mri came and went, the readings showed arthritis forming behind my kneecap along with the cracked cartilage. Doctor said i needed surgery and felt that I could work up to the day of surgery. But my job felt I was making it worse the more I worked as the grinding got louder and I was in more pain. They told me to go on leave of absence so I did and now I finally get to have the surgery in less than 5 hours.

I’m nervous to say the least, but most of all I just want this to be done and over with. I’m tired of being in so much pain and not being able to right proper walk. So hopefully this surgery will be my last on my right knee

Good luck buddy @Tank I wish you all the best for speedy recovery.

I too was recently diagnosed with ascending aortic aneurysm and will need an open heart surgery for valve replacement in near future. That’s why I’m not spending enough time here as before. Damn you human body  you can make us suffer but cannot defeat our spirit

All went fine.
Those surgeries are standard meanwhile.
But find out were is a good specialised hospital.

You know there is a need to do it.
Good luck!

Hey guys and gals, thanks for the well wishes. Surgery went good and I’m home now…but holy moly I am in way more pain than I was the last time I had knee surgery. So now I’m icing my knee and keeping it elevated for the next 72 hours. I can’t put any weight in my knee without my leg shaking and muscle spasms, so im using a folding walker to help me move around.
For now im gonna get some
