Review: Anker Ergonomic Wireless Vertical Mouse

A big part of operating a computer is your input devices. That includes mice and keyboards. Without those devices you aren’t going to get very far using your computer. When choosing a mouse you need to pick one that works well and fits your needs and budget. I will tell you not all mice are created equal. You can choose, wired, wireless, or Bluetooth wireless. It all depends on your needs. For me, I prefer wireless for my desktop and Bluetooth for my mobile devices and home theater system. When my ten year old wireless mouse that I love started to act up, I decided to replace it. I ended up replacing mine with the Anker Ergonomic Wireless Vertical Mouse.

Anker Ergonomic Wireless Vertical Mouse

The Anker Ergonomic Wireless Vertical Mouse is a ergonomic design that is contoured shaped that fits correctly in your palm that help prevent wrist strain and gives you smoother movement as you navigate your computer.

The mouse has the high responsiveness of a premium mouse. You can switch between DPI levels 800, 1200, and 1600 to give you less or more responsiveness. The mouse uses Optical Tracking Technology to give that great sensitivity for a more precise tracking on almost any smooth surface.

As with most premium mice, this mouse comes with enhanced features, you get back/forward buttons just above where the thumb rests. Not only does this add convenience to your web browsing, it also adds productivity. Using these buttons while browsing means less moving the mouse across the screen multiple times to back out of a web page.

The mouse connects to your computer via a USB receiver. Once you insert that receiver the computer will find your mouse via Plug and Play.

In addition to these great features, you get an 18-month warranty and friendly customer service to help you with any issue that might come up.

Review: Anker Ergonomic Wireless Vertical Mouse

As I mentioned before, all mice are not created equal. I’m not only talking about the style of the mouse, but as to the quality of the build and how it performs. In most cases, a cheap mouse is cheaply made, feels cheaply made, the performance is barely adequate for the average user, and they never last that long.

With the Anker Ergonomic Wireless Vertical Mouse you get a premium mouse at a cheaper price. Everything the sales page for this mouse boasts in my opinion is true. But before I go into more details about my opinions, I want go into more detail about this mouse.

When the mouse first arrived it came in a simple clear plastic box that I consider as frustration free packaging. It came with instructions, thank you card, USB receiver, and the mouse.

To get it running you need to install two triple A batteries and turn it on using the on/off switch. Once you have those two things completed you need to plug in the receiver to an open USB port. Once its plugged in it should start up in just a few seconds. It could take up to a minute or so if you are on older machine. Mine only took about twenty seconds.

Anker Ergonomic Wireless Vertical Mouse – My Thoughts

First off I’m impressed with this mouse. I read all the Amazon reviews and I thought this mouse was going to be a good one. But for the price of less than $20 I wasn’t expecting much. I have bought cheap mice in the past and returned them or thrown them out at the first chance I got.

What I don’t like is that its not a rechargeable system. But I wasn’t expecting that option and it wasn’t a deal breaker. I normally prefer a mouse that is rechargeable and comes with a desktop charger cradle or power cable to the battery replacement systems. The battery systems normally don’t last that long. But with this mouse, its different. Its power management system keeps the mouse working longer than most wireless mice and it comes with a on/off switch. I almost never turn it off. I only turn it off when I take my notebook offsite and do not want the mouse buttons to accidently get pressed and drain down the battery. Even after almost 6 months of hours of use, the mouse is still running strong.

As to accuracy and responsiveness, it works great for my needs. When I buy mice, I normally prefer gaming mice over the average user mice. I do not game that much any more, but I do a lot of image editing with Photoshop and Lightroom and this mouse works great.

The mouse feels good in my hand. Its not to small and not to big. I sit at my computer for hours and I find that I have less wrist strain. My wife with her small hands finds this mouse as a good one. When its time to replace hers, I will be getting one for her.

If you are looking for a good mouse but do not want to pay premium prices, then this is the mouse for you. I highly recommend this mouse.

Can one configure (or disable) a button?

I hate the pageup/pagedown buttons. They are too easy to hit accidentally

Thanks for the comment.

There are function buttons that can customized but as to the buttons you referred to in not sure.

I’ve never had issues hitting any of the other buttons.

This unit takes a lot of getting used to, but works well after your hand adjusts, lol. I still prefer the A7811 wireless ergonomical mouse. Still use it with my laptop for work. Wish I had purchased a lot more of them before they went away. Hey Anker, if you have some left, I’ll buy them! :nerd:

For us abject tech dummies, “800, 1200, or 1600 D.P.I.” means nothing at first. By now, I’ve read enough to understand the intent to select between the three settings, but nowhere have I learned the method to change the selection.
