Motion+

I got this MOTION+ for testing and would like to compare this speaker
with the ZERO and the FLARE I own.

Of course, I write more about the MOTION+ which I tested.

Packing:

The speaker arrives perfectly packed and wrapped.
But PLEASE ANKER/SOUNDCORE reduce plastics.
Why not using simple cardboard for that holder inside the box.
The environment will thank you for this changing ANKER/SOUNDCORE.

Added are the usual booklets: Instructions for use
and a charging cable (USB -> USB-C).

Now the real innovative on this MOTION+ :
There is a USB-C charging socket.
You all were waiting for such a feature, I know.

So the speaker can be charged with an USB-C charger.
This is pretty fast with USB-C -> USB-C cable.
Of course charging with any usual charger is possible (USB -> USB-C cable)

Dimensions and weight, IPX rating:

Dimensions: H X W x D = 8,1cm X 25,7cm X 7,9cm (3,18inch X 10,11inch X 3,11 inch)
Weight: 1050 grams (2.31 lbs)
The water protection factor according to manufacturer is IPX7.

Connectivity and Bluetooth range:
The bluetooth connection works perfectly even under LINUX.
Of course there are no problems with Android and IOS.
The ranges given by the manufacturer are approximate.

Shape, control buttons and surface (coating):

Interesting is the slight inclination (15 degrees) of the speaker’s front.
This should achieve a better sound emission.
That’s true.
The surface consists of perforated sheet and matt rubber.
(fingerprints on the rubber surface might disturb users).

The usual control buttons are mounted on speaker’s top.
They are logically arranged and have a comfortable pressure point.
On the right side you will find the ON / OFF switch,
the USB-C charging socket and the sound output (usual jack plug)
(A jack cable is not included)

Sound:

The MOTION+ has two so-called tweeters.
These may be a little irritating at the first time listening to the MOTION+.
Some find the sound too harsh.
But they may be used listening to speakers with NO such tweeters.

First and easy solution: Lower the treble at 4kHz and 6kHz with an equalizer.
But remember every speaker needs a certain “playing time” first,
to get his certain sound.
(The membranes have to get “free” and really swing through.)

Summary: Crystal clear sound and impressive basses.
(Of course all this depends on your ear and the recording quality of your music)

Now let’s do a short comparison of MOTION+, ZERO and FLARE :

design, surface and price:

The MOTION+ and the ZERO are more for a static use in the living area
regarding weight and size I think.

But both speakers are IPX7 / IPX5 rated.

The FLARE is perfect for travelling and in/outdoor use.
(Small, lightweight and IPX7)
With the built-in light organ it is probably a party gag.

The MOTION+ has a rubber / perforated metal surface.
The ZERO / FLARE have a so-called textile coating.

The MOTION+ has a USB-C charging socket.
SOUNDCORE talks about 12 hours of playing time.
(I will test these next ca 40% loudness (LINUX))

The FLARE is equipped with the usual USB-micro-charging socket.
The ZERO can only be charged using the supplied charger.

All 3 speakers present a very good sound,

With a good equalizer, every speaker can be more or less
adjusted to the individual hearing.
Please do this, before leaving a “statement”.

You can connect 2 speakers of the same type for stereo sound.

You should find out the price differences of these 3 speakers in the trade
or here at SOUNDCORE’s website.

If you have specific questions about the speakers,
please contact me by a comment or pm.

Sorry for spelling and grammatical mistakes,
but English in not my mother tongue, as you know.

Franz

PS: I am happy I could publish a similar review in German at amazon.de

Well done Franz

A good comprehensive review and fantastic comparing all three … A good idea.

Now you can stop showing off all three  hahaha

Thanks for the review, love the set up of the three and the monkey’s.

Quick question, of the 3 speakers which would you say sounded the best and which produced more bass?

Rob, really depends on the eq settings.
From the loudness the MOTION+ is the “strongest”
(all three have these “Bass-up” feature)

That’s surprising, doesn’t the Zero have 100 Watts?

ZERO by specs :
2 x 63mm Woofer, 2 x 19 mm Tweeter, 2 Passive Radiators
Output: 60 W, Total Harmonic Distortion <= 1%

I have never tried to run the speakers under full volume.
But if I tune all with preamp -5 and play these under the same volume-level the MOTION+ is the loudest., though there is said " 30W Audio"
(But I never believe in in those statements

I know some ratings of speakers are done differently.

Some are
RMS, usually the smallest rating of outout.
PMO
PMPO

I THINK… 1w RMS, is 2 PMO, is 4 PMPO
something like that. So some manufacturers will say 100 but it’s PMPO (maximum output) but really only 25w RMS.

I can’t remember the exact terms and.conversion.

Mean power, or root mean square ( RMS ) power handling, refers to how much continuous power the speaker can handle.

The PMPO value is often seen listed as " watts PMPO " on product packaging. PMPO is also called peak music power output. The alternative to PMPO is RMS (Root Mean Square), which is an accurate mathematical representation of a speaker’s power output, measured over time rather than a few microseconds.

But these are not to be found at speaker’s manufacturer’s description mostly.

They say “WATT” very sloppy.

In older descriptions I found “Watt Sinus” and “Watt music power” (PMPO Jesse mentioned).
I think “Watt Sinus” is the “real truth”.

The photo of all three speakers together is so lovely! Definitely could win in a photo contest.

I could take a better one.
There is one thing which is disturbing my aesthetic feeling.
If you find it, you will get a free beer! :joy:

I guess you don’t want Will to lean on Flare?

No.
Take a look here : Not parallel!

Great review  I like how you went in to detail and describe the ideal db level. Great review dude. You need to do this more often.

Great review but I think the design is not update. For me as a rather young person it looks like old stuff from the 00s.
Most of the new speaker have a design where you don’t see the driver. Which is in my opinion the better design

Ja indeed.
It’s the typical “brick design”.

Not only for you as a young one it looks “old styled”.
For me too, though I am really “old style” myself. :joy:
