Backward compatibility with Quick Charge 3.0

If I have a device that is is not Quick Charge 2.0 or 3.0 compatible, can I charge that device without damaging the battery?

I am looking at the Anker PowerDrive Speed 2 for my Blackberry Priv (QC 2.0 compatible) and my wife’s iPhone 4 (not QC compatible)
