I think it proves we certainly have too much time on our hands @Chiquinho
15 days read time.

I could have learned a new language, developed a new skill or helped others more.
Instead, i chose to spend it with you lovely people!

I’d be interested in throwing my hand at “knodel”, perhaps you could msg me with the details?

Planning Monday supper of “bierkutscher schnitzel” some spaetzle along with a hunter mushrooms sauce. Not sure if we’ll have fresh garden beets or beans to go with.

I’ll have to send through a phot when the masterpiece is complete.

That’s sounds great.

You know that you have create the “spaetzle” only by yourself.
A “Spaetzle-Hobel” can be used, but the real profy uses a a knive a board and “scrapes” them into the boiling water.
You can buy those frozen or dried (Same with Knödel)

I can send you a Knödel-recipe by pm.
When i make Knödel I create a lot and freeze them.
The best are “Brezen-Knödel” but this Brezen has nothing to do with the “Pretzels” you know in the US.

You will be the first in UK who is able to make really Bavarian Knödel.
Those from the packets you showed are Ok, but not the best.

Charlie will be a well known “Knödelmaker” in the future, who knows the real secrets about.

Enjoy Your Sunday my friends!

I agree @Shenoy
At the time of becoming a member here I was getting tired of the same old stuff in Facebook and spent more time moaning about it than enjoying it.
One night I decided enough was enough and deleted all but 2 friends and most of the groups I followed, leaving just a few hobby groups and a couple of friends.
I don’t miss it now and very rarely check in.

Here on the other hand, has been a good source of entertainment, information and a sense of satisfaction when you can offer new members help and information.
Also making a few good acquaintances along the way.

Dug out the hobel, so will “cheat” when making the spaetzle. Can’t stand the thought of dragging my henkles across the surface of a cutting board… lol

I think ive seen this on TV @Chiquinho
Do you pour some kind of dough/batter mix into the square part and move it up and down the grater part to create mini pieces that you fry?

Genau!
you make a dough put it in this square move it over a pot with boiling water so that the Spaetzle fall into the water and get cooked.
If these are cooked you can fry them in a pan.

The dough can be made in different ways (adding spinach or cheese etc)

(Old housewives swapping recipes, better family secrets :joy:)

Ah, boiling water first :+1:t2:
I knew I’d seen it somewhere!
Have a great week everyone.

Its the same system as using a noddle machine.
dough --> machine -> drying the noodles …

We had one, but the use is very complex.
So we gave it to our son who is using it.
Spaetzle is easier.
